Little Diva

Tammy Bality of Loveland, Colorado, was awarded the 2009 Art Show at The Dog Show Best of Show with her winning entry of a charming Italian Greyhound bronze entitled Little Diva. This peice has been donated to The AKC Museum of Dog’s permanent collection and represents the twenty0third art donation given to the Museum by The Art Show at The Dog Show.

Bality is a fifth generation Colorado native and grew up on the farm the family homesteaded in 1875 when Colorado was known as Arapahoe territory. She began sculpting in 1988 and is now represented by Spirits in the Wind Gallery in Golden, Colorado; Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona; and Chisholm Gallery in Pine Planes, New York, to name a few. This year’s Art Show at The Dog Sow jurors included DeDe LaRue of Denver, Colorado, winner of the 2008 Best of Show for her mixed-media sculpture of a Scottish Terrier, and Jay Nelson, director and owner of Strecker-Nelson Gallery in Manhattan, Kansas. Nelson is the president of the Friends of the Beach Museum at Kansas State University and also volunteers with the Kansas Arts Commission. He and his wife Barbara are the proud owners of a nine-pound, Long-haired Dachshund named Artemisia.
